My morning routine

There are some who may argue that I’m not an A-type personality, but not all anal people are mainstream “badass boss babes”. A-types come in many shapes and forms, and their organizational habits might range from logical to completely chaotic. But it always make sense to them, right? I consider myself an A-type personality. I like things to be clean, orderly, and organized. Will this mean that you will like the way I’ve done things? No. But guess what. I don’t care.

So when it comes to my morning routine, I am not the kind of hallmark poster girl who has her cup of tea while meditating and praising the powers-that-be for waking up to a glorious day. Most of the time, I want to fall back to sleep. That’s just real life, right? No one is doing yoga at 5AM while staring intently at their motivation boards and thinking of things they are grateful for. Or, those people are very far and few between. (And most likely lying, let’s be real).

I’m going to share with you how I usually start my day.

Beware: The following is about to unapologetically trample all those rules “they” tell you not to do in the morning.

My Morning Routine

1. Answer messages + Check Email

The very first thing I do is grab my phone. Don’t lie. You do the same thing. We are programmed to check in to our social lives as soon as we are awake. I answer messages I missed last night after I passed out, or send good morning texts to my boyfriend and some of my friends.

I also check my email first thing in the morning too, because you never know what important messages will be there, like a bill being due or a school contacting you first thing in the morning. All of the most important life stuff is located in my email, so I absolutely never miss this step. This is how I always stay up to date with my bills and never miss a payment.

2. Check bills + Bank Account

Next, I follow up with checking all of my bills. Yes, I log into each and every site to see when they are due and how much I owe. I keep a mental tally of when all of my bills are due. I am always on top of my finances so this always puts me in a really good mood knowing I’m dealing with the tough adult stuff so well. And in the off chance I’m late with a payment, checking it early ensures that I handle it as soon as possible.

After this, I usually open up my bank account online and stare at it for a good ten minutes. They always talk about manifestation, and the best way I know how to manifest good finances is to spend a lot of time looking over my income and outgoing charges. I know the ins and outs of my bank account. Literally!

3. Chocolate banana peanut butter smoothie for breakfast

At this point I’m usually hungry, so I venture out of my comfy bed to get some breakfast. My favorite thing to make recently is a chocolate banana peanut butter smoothie. I have a ninja blender (not sponsed), so I just throw all the ingredients in and blend for about twenty seconds. It’s so easy and instantly satisfying. Probably not the healthiest breakfast, but it really hits that spot every time. Wink wonk.

– 1 Banana
– 1 Breakfast Essential chocolate packet
– However much milk you want, depending on thickness
– However much peanut butter you like to taste (I like a lot)
– Cinnamon

4. Fast makeup

If I am really running late for work, I will apply my makeup while drinking the delicious aforementioned smoothie. Most days I hate doing full makeup and can only muster up the energy to do under eye concealer for my mug shot dark circles under my eyes, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara.

Now, mind you, I don’t get fancy. Literally one color shadow, a slight darkening with the liner, and a fast application of mascara. Ain’t nobody got time for blending and contouring and all that bullshit. I have better things to do with my time. Like sleeping in. Or browsing Instagram.

5. Style hair

My hair care routine is also basic most days. I comb it out and put it up into a bun or ponytail, because I work hard and don’t have the time to be brushing hair out of my face constantly. Not to mention how hot it gets with my hair down. How do girls do it? With the curling and the maintenance?

I need my hair out of my face and off my neck. Otherwise it interferes with my work.

If I want to get a little more fancy with it, I will throw in some French braids or faux French braid twists (tutorial coming soon if you are interested in learning how). Another easy style is to pull the hair just above your ears back and secure with a small hair tie. Then flip the secured pieces into a twist. I didn’t explain that well, but maybe I will cover easy hair tricks in another post! Stay tuned, and leave a comment if you are interested.

On Slower Days

On days when I can sleep in a bit more, my schedule changes, but not much. On these days I will make brunch instead of breakfast, which usually consists of a heartier meal. I like making veggie and meat omelets on these days. I will also spend a bit more time on social media like instagram and facebook just catching up on the horribly depressing fake reality our society has created.
