My Daily Skincare Routine

August 13, 2019 No Comments

Greetings, Earthlings. Today I am going to give you a discourse on my skincare routine with links to products that I use and how I maintain my soft fleshy outer shell. But first, if you have dry skin, I highly recommend you check out my tips on How To Wear Makeup With Dry Skin. They may be intuitive, but maybe there’s something in there that will save you from molting all over your goth boyfriends favorite black band T.

Ok, on with the post.

In the morning, I wash my face with an exfoliating facial cleanser. This helps unclog pores and take off the dry skin. I recommend not exfoliating daily. Instead, I like to exfoliate twice a week. If your skin is looking dull, lifeless, or like trash water, trust me. Exfoliating will help.

On days where I do no exfoliate, I only wash my face with plain water. The reason for this is because my skin is already insanely dry so I want to avoid stripping away the natural oils even more. If you have a more oily face, you can try using any number of facial cleansers.

Avoid products with walnut, as this can cause small abrasions on your skin. Tsk tsk, Kylie, for making a walnut exfoliator even though this has been known in the beauty industry for quite some time.

I recommend:

Champagne Charcoal Scrub
Pep Start Face Wash

After washing my face, I immediately apply Clinique Moisture Surge. I have tried many moisturizers and this is the only one that doesn’t make me break out. It is light enough to allow my skin to breathe but soaks in enough to deeply moisturize. It’s like applying a drink of water to cracked clay. The relief that comes as soon as it’s on my face is unreal.

Moisturizing in the morning and night is the most important. Sometimes people skip one or the other, but doing it both times is crucial!

After moisturizing, I apply my makeup and set it with spray. I hate wearing full coverage and almost never do it. The only times I ever do full coverage is when I’m filming, doing a photoshoot, or going out for a wedding or other fancy event. My dry skin tends to make the foundation crack, no matter how much moisturizer I apply.

I recommend:

Clinique Moisture Surge

At the end of the day, always make sure to take off your makeup. If you leave it on it will clog your pores and you will wake up with pimples. I know you are tired, but you must do this every night.

After the makeup is gone, you will want to use a toner to take off any residual product and clean pores.

You will want to invest in a good overnight moisturizer. I only recently started doing this, and saw the improvement immediately. I use Good Genes, a highly potent lactic acid moisturizer. The first time I used it my face burned, but that went away fairly quickly. My skin is sensitive, so if you are like me, make sure to read ingredients before applying anything to your face, and use a test patch to see how you will react.

I once put a whole facemask on, only to experience intense burning immediately. I took it off, but the damage was done. My face was bright red and burned.

Once you apply the overnight moisturizer, climb into bed and catch some Z’s. Getting a good nights sleep is super important for healthy looking skin. Otherwise you will wake up with dark circles under your eyes. Yikes!

I recommend:

Good Genes

Other Tips

  1. Don’t forget to exfoliate and moisturize your lips. I always carry an Eos stick with me.
  2. If you have dark patches of discolored skin, exfoliate with a lemon sugar scrub. Consistency should wield results.
  3. Use a full body moisturizing lotion straight out of the shower when your pores are more open. This helps soak up the moisture.
  4. For severely dry skin, apply coconut oil and allow time for it to soak in fully before getting dressed.
  5. Don’t touch your face. It causes breakouts.
  6. Use a highlight powder on your cheeks for a natural glow (even without foundation)
  7. Eat fruits and vegetables. It will make you glow.
  8. Use pore strips to get rid of blackheads on your nose.
  9. Stay hydrated. It will plump up your skin and make it look succulent.
  10. Invest in good products. You get what you pay for.
